2 Free Showings of Tsate Kongia - The Story of Blackbear Bosin

Saturday March 14th 2015 at the Mid-America All-Indian Center

We are proud to announce that CoBank, the owner of the downtown Farm Credit Bank building, has donated "“From Whence All Life," a 8.5-foot by 36 foot mural by Blackbear Bosin, to the City of Wichita. Bosin created Wichita's iconic Keeper of the Plains sculpture and was one of the founders of the Indian Center.

The mural will be on permanent loan to the Indian Center. An array of activities are planned for March 14 to celebrate the donation and unveil it to the public.

The day’s free activities:

10:00 talk by Dr. David Simmonds, author of "Blackbear Bosin, Keeper of the Indian Spirit." He will speak on the life of Bosin and the history of the mural.

10:30 talk by Doug Robertson, filmmaker who directed "Tsate Kongia: Walking in Two Worlds, the Life of Blackbear Bosin," a full-length documentary commissioned by the Indian Center

11:00 showing of the film, "Tsate Kongia: Walking in Two Worlds, the Life of Blackbear Bosin"

1:00 encore showing of "Tsate Kongia: Walking in Two Worlds, the Life of Blackbear Bosin"

The Indian Center Museum is home to the largest permanent display of original artwork by Bosin. Throughout the day, admission into the Museum will be half price and free for members and kids 12 and under.
